Celebrating Women Who Make An Impact On Us...
Often times we have a bad habit of not recognizing the women who have supported us through the years or who have made an impact on our lives. It's all too easy to feel like, as women, we owe it to each other to be the ultimate support and then we are on our merry way marching forward. As we celebrate Women's History Month, I encourage every girl, young lady and woman out there to reflect upon those who have helped to guide your path. For me, there have been many women who have taken the time to positively influence me all the way back to 2nd grade! Ms. Dorothy was the most marvelous teacher. She started every class with the Pledge of Allegiance and a story from the Bible. She taught me how to write cursive with one of those large red elementary pencils! I owe my entire signature to her! To me, she is the quintessential teacher. When I ran for a political office, I ultimately asked her to officially sign my papers of candidacy. Other women like Wanda Felice and Margie Volker-Ferrier, two of the most amazing art and fashion instructors...guided me on my path as a designer. Both of the travelling companions who travelled with me as Miss America helped to create a successful year despite the travel fatigue and stress. Multitudes of women deserve medals for being there for each one of us. It's never too late to reach out to say thanks or to remember them for their impact. Think about the women who have inspired you and helped you along the way. Make today the day you honor them!
